Nothing Like a Good Book

I am hosting this week's challenge over at Use Your Stuff...and this week we want to see projects inspired by books!

"There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island." – Walt Disney

I opted for a Christmas feel...'tis the season, I suppose!  Photos are quite a few years old from Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party...

I also have a layout inspired by the Twilight series...because yes, as it happens...I apparently have a thing for sparkling vampires! ;)

Double Trouble

Use Your Stuff Blog teamed up with Double Trouble Paper Crafting last week and the challenge continues this week as well...

How it works...you do our challenge, and pair it up with the challenges that double trouble has on their blog!  The more aspects of the challenge you do, the more chances you get to win their prize!

The challenge at Use Your Stuff is to be inspired by a wintery mood board...

For my layout I opted to go with Double Trouble's Thing 3 and add "sprinkles" to my project...aka anything glittery, shimmery or shiny.  I used glitter letters for the title and plenty of bling through out..

A Star Studded Challenge

Our team was asked to complete a project using stars this week so what better way to get started than with pics of the main STAR of the Disney dynasty than the big cheese himself?!

I raided my Disney stash and found pattered paper with lots of stars scattered throughout as well as some fun puffy star stickers for embellishment.

In the MOOD for Fall

The team was challenged with another mood board for this week's assignment...it is all about fall ya'll!

My older two are 19 and 17 so it is fun to scrapbook older pictures of them when they were little...and cute...and didn't have smart mouths and crappy attitudes (or maybe that's just my teenagers?!)  Anyway, back in their younger days we lived in Seattle and were blessed with 4 real seasons, the best of which, in my humble opinion, was fall!  My favorite thing to do was taking the kiddos to the pumpkin patch...

It's Autumn!

It's Autumn...at least in some places!  Here in The Sunshine State we are not so lucky.  Fall is my favorite time of the year and the one thing I miss the most about living in a place that actually gets to experience 4 real seasons during the year.  I love all the pretty and fun scrappy supplies you can find for Fall too.

The team was challenged to do a Autumn/Halloween project this week...

Spots and Dots

The first thing that comes to mind when I am challenged to do a project involving "Spots and Dots" is Minnie Mouse and her iconic red dress with the white polka-dots.  No one rocks the dots like Minnie Mouse herself!

The pictures are from June 2013 and I used up some pretty old stash for this one...

This week's challenge

We were challenged to do a project involving animals...I don't have much in the way of photos with actual real animals in them so I opted to do a layout with my favorite Disney dogs at Animal Kingdom...

A little weekend scrapbooking....

Actually did a little scrapbooking just for the fun of it this weekend...pictures are from 2013 when we played Follow the Leader with Peter and Wendy down Main Street USA and then hanging out with a couple of jungle friends at Animal Kingdom.  FINALLY used that old Sandy Lion Jungle Book patterned paper!

Let's Get Colorful

Our challenge this week at Use Your Stuff was to use a lot of color...so I opted to use a black and white photo of me and  my besties, along with some old fun and colorful KI Memories.  I sprinkled some colorful rhinestones throughout and there you have it...

Summer Fun

Now sure about where you might be, but in my neck of the woods Summer is officially over as the kids have started back to school.  My daughter just started her Senior year of high school this past Friday...and my oldest heads back to college this coming Saturday.

I hosted my team's challenge this week over at the Use Your Stuff Blog and the theme was all about Summer!  The photos in my layout are actually of my 2 oldest back in 2003...they are now 17 and 19!  Holy WOW...not sure how that happened!  Thankfully I still have my youngest who is 4 to still enjoy a few more years of Summer Fun together.

There's No Place Like Home

Our team was challenged to do a project that included a sentiment or quote...so I opted to use these recent photos from a magical day at HOME with my favorite girl.

Another super simple layout but it is done and in the books!

Super Simple

I was working on another project and came across this photo of my Diva back when she was little and bit less sassy! At the time she was all about The Goofy Movie and loved all things Max!  While it is hard to tell in the picture, she was so super excited to see Goofy and Max together in the Magic Kingdom.

I knew I had to get this one in the scrapbook so I found a super simple sketch on Pinterest and put this layout together pretty quickly...which is truly unheard of for me!  I wanted the focus to just be on the photo...

She is FIERCE!

It is another mood board challenge for my team this week...

The colors are similar to my daughter's high school colors and I knew I wanted to scrapbook this particular photo of my daughter from her freshman year on guard. I used a mix of Shimelle, Crate and Echo Park.  Finally used my Elle's Studio Stanley Alpha stamps!

My girl truly is FIERCE!

It always seems impossible...

Our team was given a mood board challenge this week.  The quote "it always seems impossible until it's done" is the first thing that caught my attention.

It immediately made me think of my daughter and how at the end of her 8th grade year she decided to step out of her comfort zone and try out for the high school colorguard/winterguard team.  I wasn't even sure she would make it through the tryouts...but now she is entering her senior year, her fourth year of guard, and her third year as a captain.  My girl took to colorguard like a fish to water.  The last three years she has been voted "most outstanding"...I seriously could not be more proud her her.

So obviously my layout features my most awesome Guard Girl...

Magical Monday

This week's challenge over at the Use Your Stuff blog has a "magical" theme....which of course means I am going to do yet another Disney Layout because if nothing else, I am nauseatingly predictable!

The pics and story are from October 2006.  Even 12 years later, it is probably among my Top 3 most magical moments.  I ended up hiding the journaling under the photos so that I would have enough room to tell my story.

Journaling reads:
We met up with The ****** Family at Epcot. J**** and M***** each had the World Passport to take around to the countries of the World Showcase and get their stamps.  I was trying my best to find one for both Stevie and Alyson but at that time the passports were being redesigned and so I was having no luck finding even one, let alone two, anywhere in the park.

This particular cast member noticed my kids’ disappointment and not only tracked one down for each of them, he went across the park on his Segway to get them and then gifted them to Stevie and Alyson.  Despite the fact that I insisted on paying for them, he refused.

All four kids had so much fun getting their passports stamped that day.  I was so very grateful for the cast member sharing some of the Disney magic with us.  It is something we will not soon forget and part of what keeps me coming back to Disney.

Recently for National Scrapbooking Day I did a few more "magical" layouts...just in case you need more inspiration:

There is no BUDDY like a BROTHER

The challenge for the Design Team this week over at Use Your Stuff was to use vellum.  I was surprised at how much vellum I actually have in my stash!  When I came across this vellum with different versions of brother printed on it I knew exactly which photos I wanted to use.  When we were having family photos taken back in 2016 our photographer caught this cute candid moment between my 2 boys.  I absolutely love these pictures.

I kept my layout pretty clean and simple so as not to take away from the pictures.

Be sure and check out what the rest of the design team did and maybe share your vellum project as well.

Hip to be SQUARE!

This week the design team challenge was to create a layout using a square.  I created a bit of a haphazard grid of colorful squares behind my photo and also used a few square embellishments as well.

Lost in Wonderland

This week's design team challenge over at Use Your Stuff was to use diecuts.  I have been working though more Disney pictures. Starting to think I have more Disney pics than anything else!

I have been playing along with Shimelle's Magical Scrapbook and Clear the Desk classes and so I feel like I am channeling my inner Shimelle.  Not sure I have had this many patterns on a layout before but I kind of like it.

A little movie challenge

My layout today is inspired by the Disney movie, Brave.  I am always happy to have a reason to scrap more Disney pictures so my team's challenge to do a project inspired by a movie was perfect!  The hardest part was just deciding which pics to use.

My layout is also inspired by Shimelle's Magical Scrapbook Class.  If you ever have a chance to take on of her classes, I highly recommend it!

I used up some old Crate Paper and Sassafrass.  Pulled out one of my little Mickey Mouse punches and some other older embellies.  This layout feels a little different than my usual style but I am happy with the end result.

Now off to be inspired by yet another Disney movie...or two!

All About the Love!

My layout this week for the Use Your Stuff blog is documenting my love of the Starbucks latte and how excited we were to get our first magical latte on Main Street.  I opted for a different twist on the "love" theme...

An American Girl Birthday!

I have been working on an album celebrating my daughter's 9th birthday.  We surprised her with a trip to Atlanta, GA and a visit to the American Girl store.  She was in heaven spending all the birthday money family and friends gave her and enjoying lunch in the bistro.  I have really been enjoying finally getting it all in an album for her...she is now 16! It is pretty safe to say, I am not a chronological scrapbooker! ;)

This week at Use Your Stuff, my team was challenged to do a project using at least 2 buttons so I made sure to incorporate some buttons on a couple of the LOs.

Here are 2 layouts using buttons.  I have been using American Girl scrapbooking products for this album.  I was able to get a big pad of 12x12 paper from Michaels back in the day and then I snagged some embellies from a little crafting kit my daughter had and grew tired of.  So glad I hung on to it all this time!

These pics are from when the staff was singing Happy Birthday and she got a birthday sundae!  Saved the birthday sticker they gave her too and so I was able to use it on the LO.

This LO is actually the very last one in the album.  It is my girl and her Just Like Me doll that she named Julie.  This place was so cute as it had chairs for the dolls to sit at the table with you not to mention doll-size menus, plates and cups...super cute for any American Girl fan!

And this is the title page for the album.  I saved an AG tag from one of the items bought and used rub-ons to make the title.

A Little on the Monochromatic Side...

So our challenge this week over at Use Your Stuff was to create a monochromatic project.  I was inspired by a photo of my daughter with a stuffed Stitch at Walt Disney World.  The photo is from 2014 but my girl has been a lover of all things Stitch since before she was 2 years old.

I have been wanting to use a heart cut file for the longest time so this challenge was just the push I needed as I thought it would be perfect with the photo.  I tried really hard to keep it all blue but really wanted a little something extra and so rather than using black for the title I opted for the golden yellow...not sure if this make my LO a fail for the challenge or not, but I am really happy with how it turned out.
