Have you met Shimelle?

So....have you met Shimelle?

Okay, well, I haven't actually MET her but I have been a fan and a follower for years.  I love her scrapbooking classes and the live videos she posts on her Facebook page.  While my style may not be exactly the same as hers, I have found so much inspiration and I am able to get more pages done.

When I first started scrapbooking it would take me FORever to get through a single layout and I was constantly worried about it being perfect and wanted to make sure I used just the right paper...but not necessarily that piece of paper that "might" be perfect for something else (we all know the struggle!)...but after watching Shimelle and taking more than a few of her online classes,  I kind of feel like she gave me "permission" to just let go and get a layout done without overthinking it...and while they won't all be my favorite, at least it will be in my albums and my family can enjoy them.

A lot of times when I start a layout my jumping point is from a sketch.  So Shimelle's recent Start With A Sketch class has been perfect for me...not to mention it is helping me try and keep a little sanity in this time of "quarantine"...trying to work 40 hours a week and keep a kindergartener up on his school work as he consistently reminds me that I am in fact NOT his teacher can be a challenge, to say the least!  And since we can't really go anywhere, squeezing in a little scrapbooking (and a little wine) can make all the difference after a rough day!

That being said, I am really enjoying this particular class and it might actually be my favorite of her classes...right up there with the One Magical Scrapbook class (Disney and scrapbooking...what could be better?!)  I have actually gotten quite a few pages done and am looking forward to more of the sketches and inspiration.

Just thought I would share a few of the layouts I have done so far...and still keeping with my challenge to scrapbook the photos that I already have printed and sitting on my desk...

Based on Sketch 1.1...my little man's first day of school...he was so excited!  Used the Echo Park Back to School collection...

This one is based on Sketch 2.1...used up an old piece of Paper Pizazz as well as some goodies from the Reminisce Fairy Tales collection...and a few bits and pieces from Shimelle's sticker book. Photos are from April 2012...both of those kiddos are now in college!

Pics of our littlest guy shortly after he was born in 2014.  I had already had them printed in the 3x4 size so they worked perfectly for Sketch 4.1. Used up some pretty old and random stash for this one.

Sketch 5.3 ended up being perfect for these photos of my oldest 2...photos are from a day at the zoo in March 2016. I used mostly Shimelle's Little By Little collection along with some Elle's Studio pieces.  I just love these two photos...so perfectly reflects their personalities...especially when mom just wants to take a "nice" picture!  LOL!

These photos are actually taken the same day as the previous layout and not really based on one the sketches from the class but the photos were sitting there after I finished the "Happy Moments" layout...and I had some time, so I just went with it. My girl can be pretty reserved most of the time so I love that I was able to get these pics of her just letting loose and having fun! Most of the elements on this layout came from DCWV Tag Stack and Diecut Shapes pads.

Thanks for letting me share :)
Hope you are staying healthy...and sane!

A Magical Monday

Recently, I have been challenging myself to scrapbook the photos that I already have printed and use up older stash (I mean, how else can I make room for new stuff?!)  Over at DisneyScrappers, there was a Leap Day Crop and one of the challenges was to scrap those photos of the friends from the Hundred Acre Woods. It took a little bit of time but I finally finished up scrapbooking the photos from our lunch at the Crystal Palace with Pooh Bear and a few of his friends back in 2012...

I used a piece of polka dotted paper on each layout, old Sandylion stickers and the pack of Jolee's Boutique Pooh and Friends stickers as well.  Kept everything pretty simple but I am happy with how they turned out and that is 4 more layouts in the scrapbook!

Wishing you a Magical Monday!

Spring is in the air!

Spring is in the air!  Our challenge with the UYS Blog was to creative a project with a Spring theme in mind...and nobody does Spring like Disney with all their amazing and magical topiaries at Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival.

The pictures in my layout are from 2012.

Circle Time

It is all about circles over at Use Your Stuff this week.  Super simple LO using the Echo Park Magical collections.

My daughter and I went over to Animal Kingdom last week and Mickey was really loving my shirt!

It's Christmas time!

Can you believe we are less than 10 days away from Christmas?!  So it seems only fitting to have a Christmas themed challenge this week over at the Use Your Stuff Blog...and since I get to choose....

I have been meaning to scrap these photos of my two oldest from 2017 when I surprised them both with an ugly Christmas sweater shirt just after Thanksgiving.  Their shirt were totally fitting to their individual personalities.  And I am very happy to say that they both still wear their shirt even now, two years later!

Did someone say SNOW?!

Well, there is definitely no snow currently here in the Sunshine State...but the latest challenge at Use Your Stuff is calling for snow!  Our team was tasked with creating a project mostly using mostly white with a pop of color thrown in.  I actually had a harder time with this than I thought and there is probably a little more color to my layout than the challenge would have called for...but nonetheless, here is my attempt at the UYS Snow Challenge...

Scrappy Time!

So in the true fashion of actually using our stuff, this week's challenge for the Use Your Stuff Design Team was to use scraps from a previous project...and since I still had it all sitting on my desk, I decided to use scraps from the recent Tic-Tac-Toe challenge...

It felt good to use up some of the scraps sitting on my desk.  I think I may challenge myself to keep going until all of the scraps from the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge have all been used...then I won't have to worry about putting them away! ;)

Check out how the rest of the team used up some of their scraps.

Let's Play Tic-Tac-Toe...

This week over at the UYS Blog, we are playing a little tic-tac-toe!  We got to choose our line, whether it was across, down or diagonal...I opted to go straight down the middle and so my challenge was to include an arrow, the color red and a little bling.

I love these pics of my daughter and my youngest son.  We had just spent the day at Dinosaur World and stopped off at Cracker Barrel for lunch on the way home.  They were being so sweet...thank goodness for camera phones!  I used up some old Reminisce and few pieces from a DCWV tag book and a paper pack...finished it off with some rhinestone bling and a tag from Elle's Studio.

Aloha!

Our Design Team challenge this week was to use labels on our projects.  Labels are such great little embellishments to add.  I have managed to start quite a collection thanks to Elle's Studio and since purchasing the three label punch that Shimelle loves so much!

I originally had a lot more labels on this Stitch LO but ultimately decided that less is more...I really just wanted the main focus of this layout to be Stitch and my daughter.

Back to School

My youngest started Kindergarten a couple of weeks ago.  He tends to be a little less than cooperative these days whenever we try to take a picture and his Kindergarten Open House was no exception!

We were challenged to do a Back to School project his week over at Use Your Stuff and so I thought it was a perfect opportunity to showcase this one particular photo of my little man...

BE {YOU} TIFUL

The Design Team had another Mood Board challenge this week.  I feel like I struggle with these sometimes.  The green is the first thing that caught my eye...and then the wood on the lighting and the table...and then the stack of books...

So, I was inspired to scrapbook a couple of photos from my daughter's senior session last August...

Inspired by Disney

It's my turn to host the Design Team Challenge this week at Use Your Stuff...and it was a fun one for me since we were challenged to create a project inspired by Disney.  Anyone who knows me, even a little bit, knows that Disney is my Happy Place, so combining that with my love of Scrapbooking makes me one happy mama!

Our kingdom's only princess attended her Senior Prom this past April and she reminded me of another princess, especially when I saw these pictures of her...

Since the challenge was to be "inspired by" I opted to keep the Disney touches simple and keep the focus mainly on the pictures of Our Beauty...

Be sure and head over to the Use Your Stuff blog and see how the rest of the Design Team was inspired.

Another Mood Challenge

Our team was challenged with another mood board this week...

My original plan was to use this super sweet photo of my little guy hanging out with a grasshopper...

But alas, my printer did not want to cooperate so I had to go looking for different photos and came across these photos of my 3 kiddos.  I used up some Little Yellow Bicycle and October Afternoon as well as some Elle's Studio and Ali Edwards goodies.

Happy Summer!

Happy Summer!

This week I am hosting the Design Team Challenge over at Use Your Stuff and it is all about Summer!

Unfortunately around these parts, the beginning of Summer also marks the beginning of Hurricane Season...ugh!  So we will just focus on the positive...like the fact that our kingdom's only princess just graduated high school, made the colorguard team for college and is currently embarking on a trip to Scotland with my mom, my sister, brother-in-law and nephews!

Or the fact that all 3 of my kiddos were under the same roof for a few days as our College Boy made it home for both his little brother's VPK graduation and his sister's high school graduation!

We can also focus on the fact that my little guy FINALLY got to fly a kite after having been obsessed with them for the last month or so after they had a "Kite Day" at his school!  I pulled out some super old Echo Park to scrapbook the photos.  He was in absolute heaven!

Be sure and check out what the rest of the Design Team came up with and maybe share your own project as well!

Celebrating Moms

The UYS Design Team challenge this week was all about Moms...and since I just got the Echo Park "I am Mom" collection, I decided to play around with some photos of myself and my 3 kiddos.  These were taken back in 2015...

Let's play tag....

I have been slacking a bit in the scrapping department...even completely missed out on the NSD this year...lift has been taking its toll.  But alas I finally have a LO for this week's Use Your Stuff Challenge: "Tags and Frames".  I used an old tag as part of my title of my Princess Bunny page.  Hard to believe this little cutie will be graduating from high school in less than a month!

Be sure and stop by the blog to see what some of the other Design Team members came up with.

Definitely a challenge...

This week the team was challenged to use washi tape on a project.  For most scrapbooker's that is a piece of cake...for me...not so much.  I actually don't have very much of a washi tape collection (*gasp*...I know...it's unheard of!) and alas, most of what I do have is holiday themed.  I wasn't really feeling in a holiday mood but thankfully I was able to find a couple of more generic rolls to add some embellishment to my Mickey and Minnie layout...

Be sure and go check out what the rest of the team did.

The Rainbow Connection

It's my turn to host the challenge over at Use Your Stuff this week and it is all about RAINBOWS!

When my daughter was little, she loved getting her face painted...and when we were at Walt Disney World, she always chose the same "frog princess" design...every. single. time.

I did a simple paper piecing to mimic her face painting...

Do you believe in MAGIC?

Use Your Stuff Blog has teamed up with the ladies over at the Double Trouble Challenge Blog again for a little *MAGIC* :)

Anyone who knows me know that Disney is pure *Magic* for me and it is hard to think about Disney without thinking about Tinkerbell...

For the Double Trouble Challenge, I took a bit from Thing 1 and played Tic Tac Toe across the bottom of the board using Die Cuts, Vellum and Ribbon...also a bit of Thing 3 considering my layout involves the most magical fairy herself!

Be sure and stop over at both Use Your Stuff and Double Trouble for a chance to win Double Trouble's random drawing prize :)

In the Kitchen

This week the challenge for the Design Team at Use Your Stuff was all about food so I was finally inspired to do a layout about mine and my daughter's very first Disney Dole Whip...seriously don't know why it took SOOOO long for us to finally try one!  So yummy and now we are hooked!

Be sure and check out what the rest of the team came up with.
